Everyone wants to have it and everyone claims they make it. So what is the difference between a custom-fit K9 Storm Vest and anything else out there?
Our vests are truly custom-fit.
From K9 Storm, you are purchasing a literal one-off product, made specifically for your dog. This means we manufacture every single vest individually using multiple measurements of your dog and your dog only. You don’t take a measuring tape, put it around your dogs chest, and end up with a small, medium, or large final product.
Since Olaf’s original K9 Storm Patrol Swat Vest was made in 1997, we’ve used something we call the “K9 Storm Sizing Kit” to get unique measurements from dogs around the world. The Sizing Kit is basically a cotton mock up of the actual K9 Storm Vest. There are areas to cut for the shoulders and length, as well as straps to adjust to accommodate the true measurement of each dog. Our custom-fit vest design is also patented.
For individual handlers, we would send out a K9 Storm Sizing Kit directly to them and they would complete the 10 step sizing process themselves. For our top tier clients, we would physically travel to their location and personally size the dogs. This has taken us all over the world, meeting amazing people and teams in every corner of the globe. Talking with handlers is still one of the most gratifying parts of our job to this day.

Then Covid-19 happened, and our deck was completely reshuffled.
With flights not possible and borders closed everywhere, all of our sizing trips were put on hold indefinitely. While our Sizing Kit works great for individual handlers, the process definitely takes time to complete correctly. How were teams with large groups going to size their dogs quickly and easily?
With that in mind, we set out to revamp our K9 Storm Sizing Kit. Our goal was to streamline the process and make it quicker, easier, and more accurate than ever before. The improved Sizing Kit became our top priority as our new world reality started to set it.
After months of trial and error, rigorous testing, and multiple design revamps, we’ve finally been able to develop the perfect solution.
Introducing the new K9 Storm Sizing Kit. You put it on your dog and everything self-adjusts like magic. 6 photos are then taken using your smart phone, and the process is complete.
Don’t be fooled! Brewser and Jettie may be similar in size, but their overall measurements are completely different. These change make a massive difference in your dogs ability to work. Imagine having a pair of shoes only 0.5 size bigger or smaller than what you need.
Is good enough ever really good enough? Overall, even slight differences in sizing can have a profound effect on your dogs overall comfort, fit, and ability to do their job. A perfect fit has always been the reason why dogs are successful working in their K9 Storm Vests.
Simple, easy, and effective. For teams that have many dogs needing to be sized, the new K9 Storm Sizing Kit speeds up the process to roughly 5 minutes per dog! That’s a huge time savings compared to about 30 minutes per sizing for a handler trying the process for the first time. Accuracy is also heightened because human variances are taken completely out of the equation.
